Old vintages

1940 to 1979. Forty years of harvests, and the heart of what we do. A bottle from this range has outlived the people who made it, several owners and at least one currency, and it has spent the whole time waiting for a year that means something to somebody.

These are the vintages people ask for by name. 1945 and 1947 for the last year of the war and the one that followed it. 1966 for a sixtieth birthday and 1976 for a fiftieth, with 1961 and 1970 for those whose year happens to be one of the famous ones. 1959 sits in the middle of it all. Where no celebrated vintage exists for the year in question, Armagnac usually does, because it is distilled every autumn without regard for reputation, and a good one from 1952 or 1963 makes a better gift than a great wine from the wrong year.

Everything here predates 1990 and is sold as a collectible item, without a guarantee that it is still good to drink. Ask and we will send photographs and a condition report of the actual bottle before you decide.
